Tiled Murals from 4ft by 6ft. panels

We do a lot of OEM printing for companies who do dry erase, but not custom printed dry erase. One of our good accounts brought us a very challenging job in Humble, TX. This was a new elementary school. The architect had designed hallways with cladded wall panels that were to be both decorative, magnetic, and dry erase. The typical panel was 48"x 72"high.

There were two types of imaging. One was oriented to mathematics with a number of different types of math exercise modules. The typically were 3 to 6 panels wide (24 ft.), and there were 6 of these walls.
This is an example of a "Math" wall. Magnetic, printed dry erase - pretty slick and the installer did a first class job.

Phase 2 came in a couple months later, and it was a completely different idea. It was a series of very large landscape images of different types of environments. There were mountain ranges covered with snow, jungle panoramas, deserts complete with tablerocks and massive buttes and dense forest scenes. The images were high resolution and some of these walls were as long as 34 feet. This is an examples:

All of the panels were custom printed steel panels laminated to 1/4" thick hardboard. Each panel was very carefully indexed to make sure that the images would line up smoothly panel to panel. A dead level base was provided on the wall and the panels were set with a "J" molding on the perimeters and clear, plastic "H" moldings panel to panel. Construction adhesive was used in the field of the panels and the contractor braced the panel against the wall until the adhesive was set.
